Overall, the prices of brown and white bread showed an upward trend throughout the period, whereas wholegrain bread fluctuated considerably after reaching a peak in 2002. In contrast, rye bread experienced only slight changes and remained the cheapest type of bread throughout the five years.

At the beginning of the period, brown, white and rye bread were all priced at 0.6 euros. By 2002, however, the prices of brown and white bread had risen to 1.5 and 1 euro respectively, while rye became slightly cheaper at 0.5 euros. Over the same period, wholegrain bread increased sharply from 0.8 to 1.8 euros, the highest figure recorded on the chart.

Between 2003 and 2004, bread prices followed different trends. Brown bread peaked at 1.6 euros before falling slightly to 1.4 euros, while white bread continued to rise steadily to 1.2 euros. Rye remained unchanged at around 0.6 euros. Meanwhile, wholegrain bread fell dramatically to just 0.7 euros, its lowest price during the period. In 2005, all four types became more expensive, with brown, white and rye reaching their highest prices, while wholegrain recovered modestly to 0.8 euros.
