The maps compare the current layout of a university biomedical campus with its proposed future development.

Overall, the campus is expected to become more modern, with fewer green areas and a greater number of specialised research facilities. In addition, the internal road system and parking facilities will be reorganised, while the two laboratory buildings will remain in their current locations.

Most of the structural changes will involve academic buildings. In the northern part of the campus, the existing green space will be replaced by two new facilities, namely Genetics 1 and Bio-imaging. On the eastern side, the current Genetics building will become Genetics 2, while the nearby Biotech building will be expanded into a much larger complex. To the west, the Biochemistry building will also be enlarged and redesigned into a V-shaped structure. By contrast, the two laboratory buildings will remain unchanged.

The surrounding infrastructure will also undergo considerable redevelopment. The existing road running across the middle of the campus will be removed and replaced by a road surrounding the site, together with a new diagonal road in the south-western area. Furthermore, besides the student car park in the north-east corner, a new staff car park will be constructed in the south-west, providing additional parking capacity.
