Overall, the room for two students was considerably larger, provided more furniture and facilities, and cost more to rent. Although the two rooms shared a similar overall layout, the single room had a much simpler design suitable for one occupant.

The double room measured 6 by 4 metres and cost $350 per week. The bathroom was located on the left-hand side of the entrance, while the kitchen area, containing a stove, sink and microwave, occupied the lower left corner. The room also included two beds, two study desks and several cupboards. In addition, a dining table with two chairs, a wall-mounted television, bookshelves and partitions were provided to create separate living and study spaces. Both beds were positioned beside windows to receive natural light.

By comparison, the single room measured only 6 by 2.5 metres and was available for $200 per week. Despite having the bathroom and kitchen in similar positions, it contained just one bed, one study desk and one cupboard. A wall-mounted television remained, but the dining area, second study desk, additional storage units and room dividers were omitted, resulting in a more compact and economical layout.
