The pictures show the location of a volcano and compare the layout of a nearby village before and after a volcanic eruption.

Overall, before the eruption, the village was covered with vegetation and contained two small residential areas. After the volcanic activity, the land closest to the volcano was completely destroyed by lava, while the settlement farther away remained largely intact.

Initially, the volcano was situated at one end of the island and surrounded by dense vegetation. Smoke was rising from its summit, indicating that it was active. Before the eruption, the village consisted of two small clusters of houses located to the east of the volcano, with numerous palm trees scattered throughout the area, creating a natural landscape.

Following the eruption, the most dramatic changes occurred near the volcano. A large flow of lava spread across the western side of the village, destroying all nearby trees and buildings and leaving a barren area behind. By contrast, the eastern part of the settlement experienced little damage, as most houses, palm trees and the pond remained in their original positions.
