Overall, participation increased substantially throughout the period, with the total number of participants reaching a peak in 2009. Adults accounted for the majority of respondents in every survey except the final one, when the numbers of adults and children became equal.

In 2001, only 48,000 people participated in the survey, including 36,000 adults and 12,000 children. Two years later, the total rose dramatically to 248,000, mainly because the number of adults increased sharply to 212,000, while the figure for children tripled to 36,000.

Participation continued to grow to 364,000 in 2005, with adults accounting for 332,000 participants compared with only 32,000 children. In 2007, the total fell slightly to 362,000 as both groups decreased by 1,000. The most significant change occurred in 2009, when the overall figure climbed to 540,000. Although the number of adults declined to 270,000, the number of children increased dramatically to the same level, resulting in equal participation between the two groups.
