Allowing individuals to work for more years helps reduce this burden while increasing higher tax revenue for governments. In addition, a later retirement age contributes to a larger workforce supporting economic growth, particularly in countries experiencing labor shortages. Another important advantage is the retention of experienced workers, whose knowledge and expertise can benefit businesses and younger employees. Consequently, extending working lives can strengthen both public finances and workforce productivity.

However, there are also some drawbacks. One concern is the increased physical and mental strain on older workers, especially in occupations that require significant physical effort. Furthermore, delaying retirement may result in fewer job opportunities for younger people, as older employees remain in the workforce for longer. Another issue is that not all occupations are suitable for older employees. Construction workers, factory employees, and other manual laborers may find it difficult to continue working at an advanced age.
