Teenagers spend large amounts of time using applications such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, where international singers, actors, and influencers dominate online content. In addition, the global entertainment industry dominance means that movies, music, and television programs from other countries are widely accessible. Modern entertainment is often more visually appealing and emotionally engaging than traditional history lessons. Another important factor is the lack of engaging historical content in schools. In many cases, history is taught through memorization of dates and events rather than interactive activities or storytelling. As a result, students may lose interest in historical subjects while becoming more interested in popular culture and celebrity news.

To increase young people’s interest in national history, schools and governments should adopt more creative educational approaches. One effective solution is introducing more interactive history education through games, discussions, and digital learning platforms. Teachers could also make greater use of documentaries and digital media to present historical events in a more interesting and realistic way.
