Triển khai ý tưởng

Position 1

Longer prison sentences may help reduce serious crimes by keeping dangerous criminals away from society and discouraging others from committing offenses.

→ Án tù dài hơn có thể giúp giảm tội phạm nghiêm trọng bằng cách cách ly tội phạm nguy hiểm khỏi xã hội và ngăn người khác phạm tội.

Ví dụ:

Life imprisonment for violent crimes

Increased penalties for drug trafficking

Position 2

However, I believe rehabilitation and social prevention measures are more effective in the long term because they address the root causes of crime and reduce repeat offending.

Education programs in prisons

Job training for former prisoners

3. Bài mẫu hoàn chỉnh

Many people believe that increasing prison sentences is the most effective way to reduce crime, while others argue that alternative approaches are more successful. In my opinion, although longer prison terms are necessary for dangerous criminals, rehabilitation and social prevention measures are more effective in reducing crime in the long term.

On the one hand, longer prison sentences can provide several important benefits. One major advantage is the strong deterrent against crime, as severe punishments may discourage people from committing serious offenses. In addition, long-term imprisonment ensures the protection of society from dangerous criminals by keeping violent offenders away from the public. This can contribute to greater public safety and security, especially in cases involving murder, terrorism, or organized crime. Furthermore, some people believe that criminals should receive punishments that match the seriousness of their crimes, making lengthy prison sentences necessary for justice. Longer prison terms may also increase public trust in the legal system because citizens feel that governments are taking crime seriously.

On the other hand, many experts argue that there are more effective ways to reduce crime. One important solution is providing rehabilitation and education programs for offenders so they can develop useful skills and improve their behavior. Many crimes are associated with poverty, unemployment, poor education, or mental health problems, meaning punishment alone may not solve the root causes. Therefore, governments should focus on addressing poverty and unemployment as well as improving social welfare systems. Another effective approach is offering mental health support and counseling to individuals who are vulnerable to criminal behavior. For people who commit less serious crimes, community service for minor offenders may be more beneficial than prison because it allows them to contribute positively to society while avoiding the negative influence of prison environments. In addition, vocational training for offenders can help former prisoners find stable jobs and reduce the likelihood of repeat offenses.

Overall, although longer prison sentences are necessary for serious criminals, I believe rehabilitation and preventive social policies provide more effective long-term solutions to crime. By addressing the social causes of criminal behavior, governments can create safer and more stable communities.
