III. Sample Essay (~270 words)

 

In an increasingly interconnected world, effective global communication is essential. While some propose creating a new lingua franca, I believe that the disadvantages outweigh the potential benefits due to practical limitations and the availability of better alternatives.

One major issue is that introducing an entirely new artificial language would be extremely difficult to implement. Achieving widespread adoption requires strong social acceptance, which is unlikely given the high learning curve and the complexity of replacing existing systems. Moreover, such a shift would place a significant educational burden on governments and individuals. For example, attempts to promote constructed languages like Esperanto have failed to gain global traction despite decades of effort. Therefore, the idea lacks real-world applicability and offers limited communication efficiency in practice.

Another critical drawback is that a new language is unnecessary in the presence of existing solutions. English already functions as a dominant medium for international collaboration, supported by well-established communication infrastructure and widespread use in the global workforce. In addition, advances in technological translation, particularly AI-powered tools offering real-time translation, have significantly reduced linguistic barriers. For instance, digital platforms now allow seamless interaction across languages without requiring users to learn a new system. As a result, these innovation-driven solutions provide a more cost-effective solution for enhancing global connectivity.

In conclusion, although a universal language may appear beneficial in theory, its impracticality and redundancy make it an inefficient solution. Existing languages and technologies already address communication challenges more effectively.
